If you have a website there are some important questions you need to ask yourself. The first one being how long does it take for you to get your message across? This article will look at why this is important and things you can do to improve your effectiveness.

Why is it important to get your message across?

Well if the aim of your website is to sell either a product or yourself to a visitor then it is important that visitor is aware of that. If they do not know what you are trying to sell them then how can they buy? It is clear really and is the basis of any sales presentation or advertising medium.

How Does Time on Site Help?

If you talk to a lot of web developers or internet marketers then they will think of many ways to keep people on your site for as long as possible. However is this important? Well if people spend a long time on your site but never buy anything then the time spent on the site is irrelevant. This can often be due to the case you that you have a lot of interesting information but no clear message which means people like your site but don’t know they can buy. This will never be a good situation.

How to Get your Message Across

There are various ways to get your message across but we have put together a plan that we believe is the best:

1. Always include a call to action - Sometimes it might seem tacky but you should always ask for the sale and preferably on every page of your website. This means wherever your visitors go they will see your call to action.

2. Split Your Content - It is really important to categorise your content and make it easy for people to find. If you think about creating one page per topic that will be the ideal. You should then make sure that it is easy to find each topic. That means someone can quickly and easily find the information they are looking for.

3. Keep it Bite size - remember that many people on the internet do not want to spend hours reading long pages of content. For that reason you should keep your pages to a maximum of 600 words and should write in short paragraphs. The inclusion of some bullet points can help as well but don’t make your site only bullet points.

4. Use Multimedia - when you are adding your content think about breaking it up with images and videos. It has been seen that many people prefer to listen to content so if you can add a video to your main pages you may pick up more sales. However it is important to remember to keep your videos short otherwise people will get bored.

The above are just some tips that we have put together to make your site more interesting and set up to convert a sale. The aim of 90% of websites is to sell something or get members. If you want to do this then you need to make sure you set your site up for the largest conversion rate as possible. If you incorporate the above tips you will see the effect very quickly.
