Litigation is going on right now in Reno. Apparently, pointing a gun at someone or holding a knife to their skin is not considered a crime that can lead to an arrest. Offenders have gotten away with not so much as a slap on the cheek… as is the case with Brandon Douglas Allan. In the past, he has had a few incidents of pointing guns at people, including his estranged wife and two teenage girls. But since it was not considered assault with a deadly weapon, he never had to go to jail. The proposal to amend the definition of assault to include such incidences was started by a woman whose daughter was killed by this man. She thinks that had the man been arrested beforehand, her daughter would still be alive.

As the law stands currently, if someone holds a gun to your face but fails to shoot it, that person is free to walk the streets. How do you feel about that? Does it make you uncomfortable to know that someone standing behind you in line at the grocery story could have these offensive confrontations in his or her past? What if that person decides that you look like an appealing victim? It is a good idea to make sure that if you find yourself in a life threatening situation, you will be able to protect your life. Dr. Ignatius Piazza wants to make sure you can.
